Arrival Port Blair → Ross Island Heritage Tour

Colonial Ruins & Island Welcome

Arrive at Veer Savarkar International Airport, Port Blair and transfer to a local restaurant for welcome breakfast. Proceed to your hotel for check-in and brief rest.

After lunch, embark on a ferry to Ross Island (renamed Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island), the former administrative headquarters of the British Raj in Andaman from 1858-1941. This 2-kilometer walk through history reveals hauntingly beautiful ruins reclaimed by nature:

  • Chief Commissioner’s House: Once-grand residence now covered in tropical vegetation

  • Government House: Colonial administrative building with remaining archways

  • Presbyterian Church: Gothic-style church ruins with intact walls

  • Japanese Bunkers: WWII structures from Japanese occupation (1942-45)

Port Blair → Baratang Island Day Trip (220 km round trip)

Limestone Caves & Mud Volcanoes Adventure

After early breakfast, embark on an adventurous full-day excursion to Baratang Island, located 110 km north through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve. The journey requires traveling in convoys at designated times with strict photography prohibitions to protect the indigenous Jarawa tribe.

Upon reaching Baratang jetty, board a thrilling speedboat through dense mangrove creeks (15 minutes) followed by a 20-minute trek through pristine rainforest to reach the Baratang Limestone Caves. Marvel at spectacular stalactite and stalagmite formations created over millions of years through calcium carbonate deposits.

Continue to witness the rare Mud Volcanoes—natural geological phenomena where gases push gray mud to the surface creating miniature volcanic cones. These active volcanoes represent one of India’s few mud volcano sites.

Return to Port Blair via the same route, arriving by evening after a day filled with unique natural wonders.

Return to your hotel, check out, and board the ferry back to Port Blair (Makruzz/Green Ocean). Transfer to your hotel upon arrival.

After lunch, visit India’s most significant freedom struggle monument—the Cellular Jail (Kala Pani). Explore this colonial prison built 1896-1906 where freedom fighters including Veer Savarkar, Batukeshwar Dutt, and Yogendra Shukla endured brutal torture and isolation. Visit:

  • Solitary Cells: 4.5 x 2.7 meter cells designed to prevent prisoner interaction
